We provide donated, good-quality clothes, toys, and essential equipment for babies and pre-schoolers to families in need across Dorset.
All our items are generously gifted by local families, helping us support others in our community with kindness and care.

Family Matters Baby Bank

Discover Our Journey So Far

Family Matters Baby Bank provides good-quality clothes, toys, and essential equipment for babies and pre-schoolers to families in need across Weymouth and Portland. Since opening in 2019, we have supported over 2,500 families — thanks to the generosity of our local community.
All our items are donated by local families and lovingly sorted by our team of dedicated volunteers.
We collect and organise essentials such as:
👕 Clothes for ages 0–5
🧸 Toys, books, and games
🪑 Highchairs, cots, Moses baskets, and stair gates
🚼 Buggies, playmats, and more.
Family Matters is a community project within Refresh – The Church of Weymouth and Portland In Action (Charity No. 1158394).
We are proud members of the Baby Bank Alliance, which supports Baby Banks across the UK to ensure that every baby and child has the clothing and supplies they need. Sadly, their research highlights that 4.3 million children in the UK are living in poverty — a statistic that drives us to keep supporting families in our community.

Our Vision

We will provide access to donated good quality clothes, toys, bedding, toiletries and
larger equipment, free of charge, for young children aged 0 to 5, to local families in need.
We will bring local families together to support each other.

Our Mission

Family Matters will provide material support to those families in the local area who are struggling in difficult circumstances to meet the needs of a new baby or child up to the age of 5 years.

Family Matters Adult Clothes & Homeware is a new sister project to Family Matters Baby Bank, created in response to the rising levels of social deprivation in our community.
All items are generously donated by local families and carefully sorted by our dedicated team of volunteers.
We collect and organise essential items such as:
👕 Warm jumpers, trousers, and everyday clothing
👕 Adult clothing in all sizes for men and women
🥿 Adult shoes in all sizes
🏠 Household essentials including pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery, bedding, towels, cups, and more
